1. I would like to learn/work in the library. When and how is that possible?

The ZLB currently offers a total of 200 workstations for booking.

The opening hours of the Berliner Stadbibliothek and Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek are divided into four blocks:

Mon - Sat

10.00 – 13.00

13.00 – 16.00

16.00 – 19.00

19.00 – 21.00

The opening hours of the Berlin-Sammlungen are divided into three blocks:

Mon - Sat

10.00 – 13.00

13.00 – 16.00

16.00 – 19.00

2. Which workstations are there and where do I have to go?

Currently you can book workstations for 5-6 hours.

3. How many tickets can I book?

You can book up to six tickets per week.

4. Do I need a library card?

No, you do not need a library card to book or access the library.

5. May I leave the library during my booked time?

Yes, but please note that no liability can be accepted for items left at the place.

6. Will I lose my place if I am late?

No, the reservation is valid for the entire period booked. It does not expire automatically. Please cancel your booking if you cannot attend the appointment!

7. I cannot keep my appointment. What should I do?

Please cancel your appointment as soon as possible. You can do this via the link you have received. If you no longer have this email, you can go to www.reservierung.zlb.de and the desired event to have a new link sent to you.


8. Can I come by without booking and use a free seat?

Yes, it is possible to use the seats without a reservation, but users with reservations always have priority.

9. When are the tickets released?

As of now, the appointments are always released for booking relatively 7 days in advance.

10. Can I do group work at the ZLB?

Yes, group work for up to 3 people is possible in the group work rooms of the Berliner Stadtbibliothek on the ground floor and basement. In the Amerika-Gedenkbibliothek, working in groups is only possible to a limited extent.

11. Do I have to print out my booking?

No, but you should make sure that you can show it when needed, e.g. digitally.

12. Do I also have to wear a mouth-nose cover at work?

No, however we still recommend wearing a medical mask in both of our buildings.

13. Are there any hygiene rules I have to follow?

14. For what purpose will my e-mail address, which I have to provide when booking, be used?

Your e-mail address is used exclusively for communication in the context of your booking. Thus, you will receive a booking confirmation by e-mail after the booking process and when a change is made to your booking. Furthermore, you will receive an automated reminder e-mail 24 hours before the start of the event. We also reserve the right to contact you in this way if necessary about new circumstances / changes in the context of your order.
